Host an Intern

Hire a student intern

Western Continuing Studies is proud to partner with organizations in our local community and worldwide for the practicum component of our post-degree diploma programs. In addition to completing several courses to develop skills and knowledge in a chosen field of interest, each student completes a mandatory practicum for academic credit, where they have the opportunity to apply what they've learned in a workplace environment.

Benefits of hosting an intern

  1. Engage high-level students who are eager to contribute their skills, ideas, and energy
  2. Develop your own supervisory and mentoring skills
  3. Raise your organization's profile among the student population

Requirements of the supervisor

  • Help the student to create six learning goals for the practicum
  • Monitor work assignments and provide constructive feedback
  • Support the student as they learn about the industry and expand their professional network
  • Be available for guidance and advice, including weekly meetings with the student to discuss their progress
  • Evaluate the student's performance in achieving their learning goals
