Professional Certificate in Creative Writing

Through writing creatively begins with desire and talent, it is practice and discipline that turns writing into art. Our course offerings provide you with the tools to create fresh, vivid work in constructive, guided workshop settings. Whether you wish to pursue fiction of non-fiction, poetry or write screenplay, we offer a wide variety of courses to help you become a stronger and more skilled writer.

Who is this program for?

Beginning, intermediate and advanced writers will benefit from a community environment that helps sharpen skills, hone ideas, and engage with the craft issues of writing.

How this program works

This program is designed to improve your writing, expose you to a variety of writing genres, and help you understand the processes of becoming a published author.


Courses may be taken individually or in combination to meet the requirements of our Professional Certificate in Creative Writing. Not all courses may be offered each year.


Successful completion of courses varies by course and could include completion of all assignments, attendance and/or grades. Please see course descriptions online for specific requirements.

Program Requirement

To be awarded the Professional Certificate in Creative Writing, you must successfully complete one required course and five electives that best suit your writing needs. Successful completion of a course is achieved by attendance and completion of assignments. Please see the individual course descriptions for completion requirements.
