World Religions - Eastern Traditions

Description

Explore the seven religious traditions: Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, and Shinto. Learn to celebrate the differences that exist between religious expressions while also recognizing some commonalities by focusing on the three central themes of Anthropology (understanding of Humanity), Theology (understanding of the Divine), and Sacred Texts (understanding and use of sacred writings).  The format of the course will be an in class lecture followed by an on-site visit to practitioner of these traditions within the London area.

Topics

  • Differences and commonalities between religious expressions
  • Major themes of various religions in our pluralistic world

This course can be used as a credit for those individuals who have been enrolled, and already completed courses, in the Huron University College Lay Certificate.
