Soak Up Some Skills this Summer

There is something about the long days of summer that makes me better at getting things done.  The mood becomes lighter in the office, I have more time to spend outdoors and I feel like I have more breathing room to complete meaningful work. I feel more productive.

I know that for some, staying focused is difficult in the summer. Perhaps you find yourself daydreaming about all the other things you could be doing instead of working: heading to the cottage, playing golf, sitting on a patio – the list is endless!

Regardless of whether your organization has a little downtime or is filled with employees lacking motivation, summer is the perfect time to scale up your learning and development activities. Even peak vacations times mid to late summer can provide an opportunity to develop employees by reassigning tasks and projects to those who are ready and eager to learn new skills and gain experience.

Boost employee engagement and productivity the summer with an interactive workshop delivered at your organization. Here are four workshop suggestions that will improve your teams skills and help them stay motivated this summer.

Design Thinking

Your team will learn a collaborative and creative problem-solving method that delivers rapid results.  This workshop can help improve innovation in your organization. The format works when you involve cross-functional team members and the content is customized to help solve problems your organization is facing.

Improving the leadership in your organization will improve employee engagement and productivity. In addition, developing future leaders will help your organization manage the “leadership crunch”.  According to the Conference Board of Canada research in the Talent Management Benchmarking: Human Resources Trends and Metrics survey, leadership capacity is the most pressing human capital challenge in both the short-term (12 months) and long-term (3-5 years).  Our leadership program is the most popular program at Western Continuing Studies and we can customize any course or an entire certificate in partnership with your organization.

Collaborative Conflict Resolution

Conflict is a natural part of any workplace and can be costly if not managed properly.  Conflict can lead to decreased job satisfaction, motivation and engagement among employees. Learning collaborative methods to draw out the best in others and resolve conflict can help all of your employees in both their professional and personal lives.

Managing Your Productivity at Work

The title says it all!  This is one of our fun, short and focused Spark Session (3 hrs) that can get your entire team focused on remaining organized, goal orientated and tackling the most important tasks over the summer months.

It’s now July so we have passed the midpoint of 2017.  Time sure does fly so make time to evaluate your organizational learning goals and your own personal learning goals before 2018 arrives!
