Back-to-school isn't just for kids

By: Allyson Eckel

The prospect of returning to school can seem daunting, especially if it's been a while since you last set foot in a classroom, but it doesn't have to be.

Developed with you in mind

As an adult learner you probably have more factors to consider when deciding to return to school that you may not have had earlier on in life. A full-time job, a family, and a social life can significantly hinder any attempts at scheduling in time to return to school. That's why we've adapted our learning formats to offer a wide range of course offerings online, in class for daytime workshops and evening classes.

Do your research

What do you want to take? Try and match your learning goals up with the learning outcomes listed for each course to ensure they'll help improve your skill gaps. In the research process you should also consider what type of learning format works best for your lifestyle whether that's full day workshops, evening classes or online courses.

Make a plan

Do you want to take a single course or an entire certificate? Our Learning Experience Team would be happy to help you plan out a certificate that helps you meet your learning goals and incorporates your interests and learning style.

Start slow

If it's been a while since you've stepped foot in the classroom and you're really not sure if it's for you, why not test out a 3 hour spark session course. If you love it register for the next one or take the leap and register for a two-day workshop.

Don't be discouraged

Our courses are geared towards an adult demographic looking to improve their skill sets. Courses are taught by experienced industry professionals and classroom make-up will mirror the demographics in your office or industry.

Returning to school as an adult can be both exciting and overwhelming. Western Continuing Studies understand the unique needs of adults and design all of our courses and programs with those needs in mind.
