Collaboration Tools

Collaboration tools allow students and instructors to communicate, work on documents together and exchange resources

Jamboard

Jamboard is a digital interactive whiteboard from Google.

It is easy to launch and allows learners to collaborate in real-time by adding comments and images and drawing on the virtual whiteboard.

  1. Create a Jamboard
You could have a blank board or pre-populate it with content.
NOTE: you will need to have a Google account.

  2. Share the link with your students either in advance through OWL or in the Zoom chat.
A student would require a web-enabled device to contribute on the board.
During your class, open the Jamboard link on the computer system you are using.

  3. Using the Zoom meeting ‘Share Screen’ function.
Select the Jamboard window so it can be displayed in Zoom. As students contribute you will see the new content being added to board.

TIP: Before asking students to contribute, take a few minutes to show students how to add content to the board.

PowerPoint and the Zoom annotation tools

Zoom has a number of annotation tools that go beyond annotation tools available within presentation software (such as PowerPoint).

  1. Open your presentation software.
  2. Open Zoom. Make sure that audio is enabled. (Note: you can choose to enable video, if you would like to be on camera).
  3. Click Share Screen, select your slidedeck, and click Share.
  4. Go to your presentation software of choice and present your slidedeck.
  5. When you are on a slide you want to annotate, click on the Annotate tool. Annotate the slide, click on "Clear" and then "Clear All Drawings," then close the Annotate tool.
  6. Click on the slide to advance to the next slide. Repeat the annotation steps as needed.
