Ontario Job Grant Relaunched to Support Employer-Led Training in Ontario 

The Ontario Job Grant (OJG) has officially relaunched, reopening applications for employers looking to invest in workforce training and skills development. The program, formerly known as the Canada-Ontario Job Grant, is now accepting applications on an ongoing basis.

The updated program continues to help Ontario employers offset the cost of training that strengthens employee skills and supports workforce development in a changing economy.

What the Ontario Job Grant supports

The Ontario Job Grant is designed to help employers train both new and existing employees in job-related skills that meet current and emerging business needs.

Employers can use the funding to support training for:

• Existing employees upgrading or expanding their skills
• New hires, including those transitioning from unemployment
• Teams building capabilities in priority areas such as leadership, project management, HR, workplace communication, data, AI, and other professional skills
• Customized training delivered by approved third-party providers

Training must be delivered by an eligible external provider and aligned to employer-identified needs.

Funding available

Eligible employers may access:

• Up to $10,000 per trainee for approved training costs
• For employers with 100+ employees: up to 50% of training costs covered
• For employers with fewer than 100 employees: up to five-sixths of costs covered
• Enhanced support for small employers hiring previously unemployed individuals, with potential for up to full cost coverage in some cases

Funding is designed to be flexible, but employers are responsible for meeting all program eligibility and contribution requirements.

Who can apply

The program is open to eligible Ontario employers, including private and non-profit organizations, that have been operating for at least one year. Applications are submitted directly through the provincial application process.
