There's no better way to learn French and experience true Quebecois culture than by fully immersing yourself in the language and lifestyle.

The French Immersion School provides a variety of activities that allow participants to improve their French skills from morning to night!  Aside from the activities listed below, participants will also have the chance to speak French at home with their host family.

 

 

Mornings and Afternoons

Attend classes with learners of similar language ability, from beginner to advanced. Learn language skills and vocabulary-building for everyday communication. Practice your French in workshops, conversation groups, pronunciation classes, or cultural outings.

Meals and Accommodation

As part of the immersion experience, you are placed with a specially chosen Quebecois family for room and board for the entire session, allowing you to continue learning outside the classroom and experience the French culture and language first-hand. During your stay, the host families will provide well-balanced meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner - allowing you to experience Quebecois cuisine while improving your language skills through conversation.

Evenings and Weekends

Spend your evenings and weekends absorbing French language and culture through film and music and socializing with fellow students and the community. Sociocultural activities offer experiences that enhance the language learning process. Enjoy concerts and plays performed by francophone groups, folklore evenings, whale-watching in Rivière-du-Loup and breathtaking sunsets.

 

 

Speaking French at all times

 

You have committed to learning or improving your French while learning about Quebecois life and culture. Learning or improving a second language is not easy. It requires hard and steady work, but the results are well worthwhile. Research has shown that the most successful learning occurs when you use the language as much as possible as a communication medium. For this to happen as naturally and successfully as possible, the School requires that students commit to speaking French at all times.

Making an effort to speak French for the duration of the program will improve your language skills and those of your fellow students. Honouring your commitment to speaking French at all times will help foster an environment conducive to learning French.

L'École d'immersion française de Trois-Pistoles provides an extremely rich, high-quality, well-organized program, combining academic, sociocultural, formal and informal exposure to Quebecois and French language and culture. "The program at Trois-Pistoles offers a variety of activities and events that allow each student to practice their French and to experience the Quebecois culture. No matter what level of French you begin with, everyone is at Trois-Pistoles with the same goal in mind, and there is always someone to answer your questions.

Choosing Trois-Pistoles was a great decision for me. After meeting and conversing with people in another language, my ability to speak French and my confidence in that ability has improved immensely.
