Five-Week Credit Program


There's no better way to learn French than by immersing yourself in the language and culture of Quebec.

Make discoveries, meet new people, and exchange ideas in a stimulating francophone environment while learning a second language. Discover your country and your capabilities! Travel to Trois-Pistoles, Quebec, for five weeks to upgrade your education or pursue a personal or professional goal.

100% French Immersion Program

At Western French Immersion School, we emphasize an integrated approach to learning.

All elements of the program - the courses, the workshops, the homestay and the social and cultural activities - reinforce one another and maximize opportunities for you to hear and speak French and enrich your cultural experience. 

 


Earn a university credit in French from Western University.


Improve your vocabulary and pronunciation.


Practice your speaking skills with other students at the same level as French.


Explore and enjoy the culture of Quebec

 

 

What Your Days Will Look Like

French is the language of everyday life: on the streets, in shops, restaurants, and homes. The whole town is your campus – a living language laboratory.

 

Mornings

Attend classes with learners of similar language ability, from beginner to advanced. Learn language skills and vocabulary-building for everyday communication.  

Afternoons

During the afternoon, we offer various workshops that will allow you to improve your French. These workshops are approved for Western's Co-Curricular Record.

Evenings & Weekends

Spend your evenings absorbing French language and culture through film and music and socializing with fellow students and the community. Weekends are dedicated to excursions that allow you to discover the Bas-St-Laurent region.

Tuition for a (1.0) French credit from Western

Accommodation and Meals

Accommodation and meals with a local host family 

Workshops and Activities 

Mandatory workshops and group activities to enhance the immersion experience

 

You are responsible for the application fee, travel costs and personal spending.

 

 

Explore Funding

The Government of Canada offers the Explore Program, which it has funded since 1970. Under this Program, Western University's French Immersion School in Trois-Pistoles, Quebec, funds students who wish to learn or improve their French skills.

Western University also awards bursary funding to eligible recipients.
