FOOT6002 Advanced Orthotic Science

Build upon the principles introduced in Basic Orthotic Science by applying specific biomechanical and physiological concepts. Update your practitioner skills to improve accuracy in responder selection and orthosis design. Discuss considerations for orthosis integration into modern footwear technology.


  • Fundamental biomechanical and physiological processes relevant to orthosis design 
  • Identify responders to orthotic therapy within selected indication groups 
  • Gain understanding of orthosis integration and how that serves treatment plans for selected indications

Prerequisites & Certificates


You must successfully complete FOOT6001 – Basic Orthotic Science before the start of the course and be a Health care practitioner with one of the following designations: Canadian Certified Pedorthists, Chiropodists, Foot Care Specialists, Canadian Certified Orthotists, Prosthetists, Podiatrists, Physicians and Foot Care nurses.
